Last night was a late one, with a bit of partying going on that kept me up until after midnight. As a result, I slept in today, trying to make up for the lack of rest. But now, with the NFL playoffs approaching, I have to keep things brief. Get ready for a journey that may take us on some unexpected turns.
TULUS (Norway)
From 1993 through 1999, this Norwegian band put out three demos and three full-length albums before going on hiatus. Two of its members, Sarke and Blodstrup, later formed Khold, releasing six albums from 2001 to 2014.
In 2006, Tulus was temporarily revived, with Sarke and Blodstrup releasing Biography Obscene and Olm og bitter in 2007 and 2012, respectively. They were joined by bassist Crowbel in both Khold and Tulus.
It seems that Tulus and Khold have taken turns releasing albums, with Tulus putting out Old Old Death in 2020 and Khold releasing Svartsyn the following year. Now, Tulus is back with their seventh full-length album, Fandens kall, set to be released by Soulseller Records on February 17th. The second single, "Snømyrke," was recently released.
Fandens kall is a hard-hitting album, featuring catchy drumwork, gritty riffing, and a nimble bass. The album also features guest appearances by Anders Hunstad on keyboards, Lars Erik Westby on piano, and Lena Fløitmoen on female vocals. The cover art was created by Kjell Åge Meland.
