Lucas Di Mascio founded Malacoda as a recording project in 2014. Over the years, the band has delved into various styles of heavy music, always with the guiding principle of staying dark yet dynamic. However, the pandemic took its toll and the band went on a brief hiatus. Now, Malacoda is back with a fresh, reimagined sound that will soon be revealed to their eager fans. The latest release from Malacoda is a condensed version of "Our Special Place," a standout section of their 2018 release "Restless Dreams." The original track, clocking in at over 12 minutes, was transformed into a self-contained, 3-minute track, complete with a lyric video that recently premiered on Metal-Rules. The band felt that the first section of the song was the strongest and wanted to showcase it in a way that would fit well in their live sets. "We were all really fond of 'Our Special Place,' but it was simply too long to fit into our live shows without cutting other fan-favorite songs. We decided to re-record our favorite section of the track and give it a little extra polish. We're thrilled to share it with our fans," said Di Mascio. Malacoda's dedication to staying true to their musical roots while also exploring new sonic territory has made them a beloved figure in the metal scene.
